Wear LOVE Everywhere You Go

ASKS

(Colossians 3:14 MSG- And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.)

The NLV of today’s focal verse says— And to all these things, you must add love. Love holds everything and everybody together and makes all these good things perfect.

The words from today’s focal verse truly moved me because in a world where it sometimes seems like everything is going wrong, The Word of God says, to truly love has the power and ability to make all things perfect.

The more I seek God and the more I’m praying, “Less of me and more of You, Lord”, the more He makes me aware of the hurt and brokenness of this world and in the hearts of the people around me. I often sense heartache within a person without even conversing with them and sometimes without even knowing them at all.

So yesterday morning when I saw an image that said, “Wear Love everywhere you go.”, it made me think of the following passage of Scripture— (1 John 4:7-12 NIV- Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God Is Love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.).

God Is Love. So, to truly wear love means that we’ve surrendered our lives to The Lord; that we’re so deeply and intimately connected to Him that the people around us don’t see us, but instead, they see His heart, His Love, and His Life displayed in and through our lives.

“Love holds everything and everybody together and makes all these good things perfect” doesn’t simply refer to love as an emotion, but to the perfect and sovereign Presence of God, Himself. What it really means is that, it’s His Holy being that’s holding everyone and everything together and making all things perfect.

I long to love with the heart and love of our Savior and I may not be able to change the world, but I’ve made a covenant with God that I’m going to truly wear love everywhere I go and strive to always let my words be a reflection of His Presence in my life. And in doing that, I’m praying that every heart within “my world” will be changed.

Today, I just want to leave you with this notion: every time we to tell someone that we love them, we are essentially planting the seed of God’s Presence in their lives. So, the more you recognize hurt or brokenness within the heart of another, the more you should tell them that you love them. There is power in the words we speak forth. To simply tell someone that we love them gives us an opportunity to continually water that seed of God’s Presence that we’ve previously planted in their hearts which allows Him to fully blossom in their lives. And where The Presence of our God blooms— all things are made perfect.

Dear Heavenly Father, I enter Your Holy Presence this morning asking that You would instill within our hearts a greater understanding of what it truly means to love one another. Lord, give us the ability to recognize the hurt and brokeness in the hearts of the people around us and capacity to love them according to Your standard, not ours. Lord, today and everyday forth, help us to not only love with words, but through our actions and deeds as well. Abba, through the love that You’ve given us and through Your Presence in our lives, let our hearts beat with a love that honors Your heart. May we truly wear Your love everywhere we go. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

With GOD, You Can Slay “life” And Win!

ASKS

(Isaiah 9:4 VOICE- You will shatter the yoke that burdens them, You will lift the load that weighs them down, You will break the rod of their oppressor.)

The power and Presence of God reigns supreme exceedingly above and surpassingly beyond all things. The beauty in our intimacy with Him is, no matter what we may have to endure in life or no matter how difficult life may seem at times, it doesn’t have the power to defeat us. Though we often can’t conceptualize the blessings and breakthroughs that God has ahead of us in the midst of the weight of our burdens and the brokenness that our hearts bear, the fact still remains that our God is so much greater than all of the heartache, disappointment, fear, and frustration that we allow to consume us.

If we truly believe in God and the promises of His Word, then why do we still try to carry our own crosses instead of entering into His Presence and laying them before Him? (Matthew 11:28-30 MSG- “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”) Jesus gives us the option to exchange our brokenness and our ashes for His crown and His beauty. There is no exchange in this life that is greater than that.

It’s so crucial that we learn to trust and have complete faith in God instead of relying on ourselves because I can promise you this, our efforts will never match or compare to His power. He’s The Foundation in which we live, walk, breathe, stand, and literally exist and there will always be this need for more and this feeling of inadequacy without Him in our lives. I think the reason we often feel defeated and overwhelmed by life is because it’s simply not enough for us to want God to be in our lives. We have to know that we need Him and by need, I mean need as in can’t live without Him and then surrender that need in His Presence. Our lives would be fulfilled in ways that we never could’ve imagined, dreamed of, or even prayed for if we just allowed our hearts to embrace that truth. We want to know and then trust, meaning we want to be able to see before we believe. But God wants us to trust and then know, meaning He wants us trust Him before we’re able to see and know in our hearts that He will provide. (2 Corinthians 5:7 GNT- For our life is a matter of faith, not of sight.)

I believe with my whole heart and soul that with God this life will not defeat me. I believe that He has already conquered everything that has the power to break to me as well as everything that I’ve felt has left me broken. And the reason I believe that is because Jesus said it. (John 16:33 AMP- I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer, take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted! For I have overcome the world. I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.) I believe in every truth that He promised in His Word and that’s what I want for you.

Don’t live your life feeling defeated and merely existing. Live your life believing that God is with you, expecting Him to help you conquer and overcome victoriously, and knowing that He has the greatest reward with your name written on it if you’ll simply trust Him. Live your life with a smile in your heart as well as on your face not just as you overcome, but as you slay the life that involves everything that has tried to defeat you knowing that God has prepared a Life of perfection ahead of you!

My Desire Is _______.

ASKS

(Psalm 119:33-40 GNT- Teach me, Lord, the meaning of Your Laws, and I will obey Them at all times. Explain Your Law to me, and I will obey It; I will keep It with all my heart. Keep me obedient to your Commandments, because in Them I find happiness. Give me the desire to obey your Laws rather than to get rich. Keep me from paying attention to what is worthless; be good to me, as You have promised. Keep Your promise to me, your servant— the promise you make to those who obey you. Save me from the insults I fear; how wonderful are Your judgments! I want to obey Your Commands; give me new Life, for You are righteous.)

This morning before prayer service actually started, I sat down and I started to pray the passage above over my own life because I desperately want every promise that God has whispered to my heart and told me was mine to manifest in my life. And I know that in order for that to happen, I have to stay focused on Him and what His heart desires from me and expects of me. The moment that you feel that God has called you to do something changes your whole outlook on life and what truly matters to you. You have this vision that is so much greater than the one that you had for yourself. It’s like looking at your life, but through God’s eyes. So now what I desire for my life is so unbelievably eminent I know that I can’t do it without Him.

Last month, my friend Ellie invited me to her women’s conference. The name of it was “Abundantly Loved” and that’s exactly what the experience poured into our hearts. That day set a fire in my heart that has yet to extinguish. … If you know me at all, you know that unless you had come to church with me you probably wouldn’t even know that I was there because even in a church full of people, my heart still requires intimacy with God. I usually sit quietly somewhere off to myself and I spent most of the conference doing exactly what I normally do, but little did I know that my presence there hadn’t gone unnoticed.

A couple hours before the conference was over, all of the women got together to eat and fellowship. And since I was visiting I didn’t know anyone there except for Ellie and bless her heart she was busy serving and taking care of everyone the whole day. She’s one of those people that you have to admire because she lives, breathes, and embodies the essence of what a woman of God should be. Anyways, since I didn’t know anyone, I just sat at the first table that I saw had an empty seat. When I sat down a lady smile at me, introduced herself, and said, “I’ve been wanting to tell you all day long that the glow of Jesus is all over you, especially in your face.”. That was the best compliment that I have ever received. And in that moment, I also saw the God in her because she wasn’t afraid to say what she felt God had put in her heart to tell me even though she didn’t know me. And from that moment on we just laughed and talked as if we were old friends. (Thank you so much, Holly!)

The reason her telling me that meant so much to me is because I’ve truly been striving to give God my all and she saw that in me before she even knew my name. I personally believe that you can’t truly serve God or minister to someone else’s heart until you’ve been broken yourself because pain brings about a humble and grateful heart towards God that nothing else in life can give you. The most beautiful heart is one that has been broken and then mended by God because there’s a sincerity in that truth when you’re trying to minister to another broken heart that is undeniable. There’s a saying that goes, “Thank God I don’t look like what I’ve been through.”, and I’m sure that we can all relate to that in some way. But for me, instead of looking like what I’ve been through, I prefer to look like the wisdom, healing, and strength that I’ve gained from it. And being at that conference that day was confirmation for me that God had already allowed me to do that.

I shared this with you guys to say this: even though we don’t always understand what God is doing in our lives, the beauty in our pain is that the God in us can use that same pain that left us broken to be someone else’s healing. (John 13:7 NIRV- Jesus replied, “You don’t realize now what I am doing. But later you will understand.”) God has a vision to use our lives to be a blessing to someone else’s and to be a part of something so much greater than the hurt that He’s healed us from. I’m sure you’ve noticed that my title for this was, “My Desire Is _______.”. Fill in that blank with, “Whatever God Desires Of Me”. Allow God’s vision for your life to become your vision for your life because your greater lies in Him and only He can bring it to life within you.
