(Hosea 14:4 CEV – You have rejected Me, but My anger is gone; I will heal you and love you without limit.)
I think this verse displays just how extraordinary God’s love truly is for us because even when we’re unfaithful to Him and to ourselves, His love for us never changes. (2 Timothy 2:13 AMP – If we are faithless; do not believe and are untrue to Him, He remains true; faithful to His Word and His righteous character, for He cannot deny Himself.) As humans our character is sometimes modified by our emotions or our circumstances. Meaning, who we are or in some cases who we become can be shaped by the pain that we carry or by how we feel or by the emotional connection we associate with what we’ve been through. One of the most amazing things about God is that He remains God no matter what. And unlike us, His love and faithfulness will always stand unchanging and unconditional.
In the midst of this beautiful disaster that we call life, we will all inevitably make mistakes and fall short of His Will, but the beauty in our shortcomings is that His grace allows us room to be human, but more importantly it grants our hearts the priceless benefit of receiving the beauty of undeserved redemption. In those moments when our feelings or our circumstances have gotten the very best of us and we tend to stray away from God are the very moments that His heart is longing for us to draw nearer to Him. It’s in those intimate moments of desperation in His Presence that allow us to literally feel the truth of His promises to us at work within us.
(Isaiah 49:16 NIV – See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before Me.) Imagine how much you would have to love someone in order to tattoo a picture of them or even their names on your hands for the whole world to see. In most cases, we wouldn’t dare think of doing such a thing. Now, imagine the fact that God has your name and face engraved on the palm of His hands and then think about how incredibly great His love is for you that He would do the very thing that you wouldn’t even dream of doing. The verse from Isaiah says, “Your walls are ever before Me.”. To me that means that even when we get lost within ourselves and find it hard to muster up the strength to enter into God’s Presence, our presence is always with Him and every time He opens His hands and He see your face, He remembers your heart and smiles because even when we’re struggling to be faithful to Him, we are still His creation and still His beloved chosen.
The one question that you’ll never have to ask God is, “What do I mean to You?”, because we serve a God Who not only shows us how deep His love runs for us, but wears a physical display of what we mean to Him every single day. There is no greater love than the love of our Savior. So, as God welcomes you into His Presence with open arms remember to take a look at His hands, for it is there that you’ll see your face; the very reflection of His heart for you.
